Read, Write, and Earn

One of the biggest activities on the internet these days is blogging. It's a great way of reaching out to others, letting them know our thoughts and views, critiquing sports, news, and entertainment issues, sharing tips on self-help, do it yourself projects, and how to make money on the internet. Some bloggers just like to rant. Whether a blog is focused on a solo theme or more widely themed like mine, blogging is one of the most effective means of communicating on the internet. If you've been thinking about starting a blog, now's a good time.

There's a fairly new site on the web that is exciting for new bloggers. It's called Seekopia, and what makes it unique is that it combines blogging, social networking, and advertising. Just by having a blog on Seekopia, the blogger is making money because they automatically own a share of the advertising. The type of ads used are both context and adverts, which can be custom ads chosen by the blogger.

This is a perfect way for newcomers to create a free blog. The more you write, the more you earn, and that's pretty cool. It's easy for others to follow your blog, and for you to follow your favorite blogs as well. You even had a lot of control over what you read in that you can blacklist posts, tags, and individual bloggers that you'd prefer not to see.

In just their first 40 days, Seekopia already has 137 bloggers on board. That's a great start, and I'm planning on checking it out myself.

Dress Up Fun

Costume parties are so much fun. Most of the time, we tend to think of costumes during October when Halloween is approaching, but often overlooked is the idea of costume party any time of the year. I was looking at a really neat infant costume in the character of Woody from “Toy Story.” I adore cowboys, and that's such a natural fit for a little boy. This outfit is so darn cute, too. It has a brown hat, booties, and the full body suit costume. It's available in other sizes, as well. There was another boys costume that I liked, too, for an astronaut. It's my second favorite one that I looked at. There's so much to choose from.

If you are looking towards the pumpkin month, check out the many Girls Halloween Costumes and Boys Halloween Costumes that are available. They even have men's and women's sizes *and* plus sizes for men and women, and that's pretty neat.

They offer same-day shipping for orders placed before 6pm, and there's free shipping on orders totaling $60 or more. They have makeup, accessories, hats, and wigs. There are costumes from the 60's and 70's. Would you like to dress up your pet? They have pet costumes, too, from Bewitched to Batman and even Mickey Mouse. Now that's a hoot!

Odds and Ends

I wanted to wish everyone a happy Memorial Day weekend. Here's to those who have kept this country safe in the decades past and those who continue to do so on a daily basis. We're proud, and we're grateful!

Nigel Lythgoe took a big hit on the opening of So You Think You Can Dance. GLAAD didn't like his response to two male dancers who danced together. It didn't bother me, and I don't think there's a flap here. These two guys are not a same-sex couple. One is homosexual, the other is straight. They just haven't been able to find female partners that suited them, so they danced together. Frankly, they weren't all that good. Nigel was a bit surprised by the two, but he still critiqued them fairly. I just think that the flack GLAAD is causing isn't the type that helps its cause. He wasn't being hateful; he was just reacting.

Sometimes I think we create our own problems. Is being politically correct the only way to be? Do you want someone to express their true reaction, or lie? This country is diverse. It's not about everyone believing the same way, it's about everyone having the same rights. Those two men were allowed to dance together and be critiqued together. That was their right. I guarantee you that had they been good, they'd have gone forward in the competition. Lythgoe doesn't have to lie about his reaction; he just has to be fair in his judgments for the show, and he was. Again, had he said something hateful or brash, that would be different, but he didn't. So, in my opinion, GLAAD is just pushing people away, not bringing us together.

Has anyone tried the new Pepsi Throwback? I'm just curious what folks think about it. I'm still undecided about it myself.

The Apprentice UK

Y'know, the UK version of The Apprentice is somewhat refreshing. The boardroom is certainly more real. I just watched my first episode of it, thanks to cable on demand for the BBC network. There's some nice differences between the two shows. Of course, I've only watched one episode so far, so we'll see what happens after I see a few more.
